The Bride

I began creating The Bride whilst watching the Royal Wedding on television last month.  I got quite caught up in the happiness of the day, how beautiful and serene the Bride looked in her beautiful gown and how handsome Prince William was.  Over here in Oz, the wedding was on live towards the evening.

I was inspired by a photo of my lovely Mother, Natalie, on her wedding day.  She was 18 when she married and I hoped to relate her youth and beauty on her special day.

Today I was looking at one of my favourite nings, called:  http://handsandheart.ning.com and to my great happiness saw that The Bride photo is being featured.  I am so excited that others have enjoyed looking at her.

She started off with paperclay face and I painted her using acrylic paints, adding beads for her pearl necklace and created the lacy look for her veil and dress with white acrylic paint.  Little silky, cream flowers complete the work placed on either side of her face.

I Love Blogs!

W
elcome to my Blog about the arty and creative things I like to do in my spare time. When I am not creating, working and enjoying family life (and the sometimes hum-drum but necessary duties associated with running a household, I love to check out Blogs of other crafty/arties. Anyway, please enjoy some of my own mixed media art I have taken photos of.

This work is made on a board gessoed black.  Her face has been made with paper clay, as is the rose, two leaves and padlock heart.  I built up her upper body and hands with impasto texture,  Her hair I also created using impasto texture.  Lots of mod podge for finishing, sealing and glueing.  Lace makes up her skirt and the butterfly.

It was so much fun to make and I learned a lot about this art as I worked through the project.  Acrylic paint for face, rose and leaves.
